Description

Here they are! The pants. They took a few days to finish and it was quite an ordeal! My finger had an unpleasant meeting with the sewing needle in the process. I had to fix the size again and again, and ended up just leaving it as is, not too tight fitting. They sit way high up on the waist, which is not what I’d normally wear. I learned a lot making these pants and I also learned that I have a lot more to learn about making pants and making them fit! Still, they’re comfortable and kinda nice. If anyone has any tips and tricks on making pants I would love to hear them!

BTW the pattern is #113 from Burda magazine of Sept 2009.

BTW your pants looks well made to me. Easy guide to sewing pants covers; choosing your pattern, choosing your fabric, getting the right fit , refining the fit, constructing the pants, stylizing your pattern: adding pockets, fly front zippers, cuffs,…. I thinck this is really a complete book to alter every style of pants you want to make, the info will never be outdated. It doesn’t explain in specific how to lower the waistline.

A good reference book for sewing, altering, finishing….. is Easy guide to sewing pants, available as an e-book from The Taunton Press. The book Making trousers for men and women from Page Coffin is also a good one but only for finishes not altering pants

Hi Josefina! Thank you so much for this reference! The “Easy guide to sewing pants” looks great, though the styles are so very outdated. Do you think it can still be useful for today? Does it explain how to lower the waistline, make the pants fit right, etc?
