winter coat based, rather loosely on the burda style 3/2010 pattern A. The inspiration behind the coat was a Kate Spade coat (see my blog for pictures – link below) and I adapted the burda pattern accordingly – shortening the length, the sleeves (to get the bracelet length sleeve), omitting the collar and adding a self drafted scarf collar that forms a loose bow and adding a back belt. I also used some couture tailoring techniques including hand basting in canvas hair interfacing, tailor padding and taping the necessary seams.

yeah I always look at Kate Spade retro feel stuff and think ….surly I can make that! (and then I never do)….You however produced a just wonderful coat using them as inspiration. Yours is so much nicer than their striped version too so much more subtle and classic and oh so wonderfully retro.
