My darling husband has an obsession with wide wale corduroy. So I made him a pair of pants last weekend. I just based it on a pair of jeans that I bought him that were too big and have darts in. The pattern looked weird to me but it worked! He loves them as they feel like he’s wearing pj’s. sigh I’d do a few things differently next time (and I’m assured there will be a next time), I’d triple check the pile was the right way (double checking was apparently not enough! So ashamed!) and add more stiffening in the waistband and fly overlap. I’m pretty proud this only took me 3.5 hours to draft, cut out, sew, fit and finish. On a side note, I apologise if you now need therapy after viewing these photos…..
Corduroy, metal jeans zip, jeans button, homespun for pocket lining.

Thanks! Can you believe he’s even learning the names of fabrics as well? He knows what chiffon is and delights in picking it out everywhere he sees it! Not bad for a IT nerd with a hobby of astronomy and astrophotography (and being a general know it all)! We are like yin and yang, both so different, but a perfect pair :) He’s now getting me to hunt for matching pant and waistcoat fabric… (I’ve created a monster!)

Yep, he’s a goof ball but I love him because he makes me laugh non-stop! We even went button shopping yesterday and he picked out some buttons for some shirts I am making him! He also tells me that he used to hate paisley fabric but now loves it because I have shown him what can be made out of it. I have converted one person on this planet to the joys of making your own clothes at least!

That is so nice him going shopping with you, mind would do that too.
My husband is a very sweet person, like the absent minded professor, we never let him touch tools “they are like a lethal weapon in his hands”..
