This is a reprint of a wiggle dress from 1956 with loads of curved pleats on the bodice, which I chose to keep sewn closed, as curved darts. I made quite a few other changes to this patterns, too which you can read about here
I absolutely love the fit and style of this dress, though, it’s exactly what I love to wear in winter and the little details are just so flattering! Those pleats did take an awful lot of hand basting to get right, but it’s all worth it in the end.

on the pattern is says, …use jersey fabric /elastane only .. why is that? I would like to use cotton, I think should be fine… what do you think,… Ladiesss

It’s generally a bad idea to substitute a woven fabric when the pattern calls for a knit/jersey – the drafting is different and takes stretch into account. This dress is cut very close and it’s likely you’ll be uncomfortable moving if it didn’t stretch with you!

thanks! the darts required a ton of hand basting to get accurately transferred, but I think it was worth it!
