I was given the Butterick 6238, 50s dress pattern and I have made up a toile dress from some green fabric I was given, so I don’t know what fabric it is, I think its curtaining because it is quite a firm fabric but hangs well. The pattern is an easy one to follow it has a centre back zip and I need to give the bottom part a good iron , I made a size 24 but I find the bat wings are a bit big, so the back is a bit puffy, the sleeves should be just below the elbow and the length is a bit long. I made the belt to match. the pattern on the fabric is like tree bark and is bit over powering for the dress.
