This is my own take on Butterick B5356- view B.
Instead of keeping the seam on the inside – I decided to keep it out and make a feature of it.
I have seen Dries van Noten and Marni tops with this look !
The gathers on the front and the back yoke weren’t even intended to be there – but I had to stick them in when I realised the yoke would been too wide and baggy without them.
(I just don’t know what the score is with some of these pattern cutters back at base. I am finding more and more these days that patterns only give you a rough approximation of a final item and there is so much tweaking you have to do yourself.)
I am quite pleased with this top – it’s unusual and a heavyweight cotton and can be worn most of the year round.
