I love, love, loved this skirt as soon as I saw it posted online. The idea of using bright, primary colors really appealed to me, so I made my version in teal and lime green. I followed the pattern pretty much straight up for this one, and didn’t have any problems (aside from it taking me a long time to do all those pleats!). I know lots of the comments in the forum suggested that this pattern might not be so flattering to the larger bodied ladies, but I made the largest size available and I think it looks pretty good! I figure if big Scottish dudes can look good in pleats, so can I. I plan on making another one of these as soon as I have a chance to visit a real fabric store and get some nice wool (no fun colors of wool to be had out here in upstate NY…)
Stretch cotton, satin for the edging
Burdastyle for the pattern

Whoever said this wouldn’t look good on “larger bodied ladies” hasn’t seen you in this skirt! You look amazing, much much better than big Scottish dudes for sure! :)

Love the skirt, love it on you! Clothing reflects how we feel. With this skirt, you loved the look, the style and the colour and in the photos you reflect how you feel in it. You wear it with confidence! Many people have to wear clothing to feel confident, YOU are confident and this reflects in this skirt and probably anything you wear! You made the skirt to fit you very well! Congrats! I can hardly wait to see your next creation, this skirt in a wool! Jane

i’ve got a fuller figure too, and while i loved this pattern i didn’t think it would work on me. perhaps giving it a higher waist would help flatter me. i’m not sure, but i like the lime green on yours, thats my fav color! way to be brave and adventurous!

I was bowled over by the pattern too, and you’ve made such a gorgeous version! (They definitely had a Judy Jetson thing going on, right?) I love the teal and the whole green outfit. It’s making me want to put other projects on hold and go find fabric for this skirt. love it. :)

Adorable! You did an awesome job on those pleats and the edging, and on getting a good fit. That’s a busy skirt for anybody’s body; it wants to be the star of the show! Try paring it with a clean-lined solid top and simple (yet fabulous) heels and make those pleats sway!
