Description

My last trip to F+W Studios I filmed How to sew the BurdaStyle Island Placket Dress and this is my finished dress! I have been wearing it a lot this summer because it is so flowy and works great as an easy day dress to wear. I will say I have yet to actually wear it on an Island, but I think it would be the perfect dress for that.

The Island Placket Dress was quite fun to sew, and comes together nice. I used a sheer fabric so I lined it but if you want the project to use less fabric and sew quicker use a lightweight non-sheer fabric like a silk, opaque polyester or cotton. If you plan on making this dress I suggest checking out the tutorial video to see all the steps I took to sew this dress, I didn’t follow the BurdaStyle instructions exactly so it will give you a different sewing perspective.

My favorite part of this dress is the back styling and the button front detail, it is a great way to add a bit of flash to the dress without having to wear jewelry.

Love the fabric and the dress. It looks good on you! Really thinking about this style but hesitant because of my boobs.

Yah the thing about this dress is that you can’t really wear a bra with it, but I double interfaced the bust area pieces for extra support and then made them a little shorter in length to pull everything up, haha.
