Description
This Shirt is based on Burdastyle magazine 03/2012 #117.
I traced and sewed the size 36 instead of the recommended size for my 36’ bust or even worst, the size of my hips.
the 36 turned out to be enormous still. I was drowning in puddles of fabrics.
The sleeves were long and loose. Had to hack it shorter by two inches. Hate wasting fabric. But then rather have more than less to sew with on any given projects.
Had to take it in one inch along the side seams and crudely sew in back darts.
I think I will need to look into sway back adjustment tutorials. It was hard to take it in since the off shoulder seam was a design feature.
The gingham fabric helped quite a bit with pattern pieces layouts. I cut the cuffs, button placket, sleeve vent placket, shoulder yoke and pocket pattern pieces on the bias/cross-grain.
Material Notes
I used green gingham fabric. This fabric is perfect for a crisp clean structured look. The pattern was designed more along the lines of a casual, loose look. I thought the lightweight gingham would work.
