Simplicity says: Inspired by Project Runway. Misses’ Dress sewing pattern with collar and sleeve variations.
I say: Vintage style dress with four bodice darts and a nice pleated skirt.
This dress has been in the works for far too long. Many things distracted me but I finally finished it. It is a very simple dress to make and I highly recommend it. My version is out of a stretch cotton woven so there are fewer fitting issues. Actually I had no fitting issues! How nice is that?
I can see this pattern becoming a basic in people’s sewing arsenal; interchanging bodice and skirt variations.
I have paired it with a thrifted pearl bow pin and also a denim fabric belt from some jeans I bought a year ago and thought I would never use!

What a gorgeous dress! I love the darts going to the middle instead of the side seams. It makes a really nice detail when the fabric is ginghamed. And the fabric is great, where did you get it?

Hi there, Thanks for your lovely comment. I really like the interesting darts too. The striped versions are amazing as well.
I thought I found the fabric, but I was wrong :( It looks like they are sold out. Sorry.

Go for it. This dress would look lovely in red!
The bow IS really cute, isn’t it. Such a score, I love it when that happens.

Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments. While I am drawn to gingham, I was not really sure if I could pull it off but once I saw it in this kelly green colour, I decided I should give it a go. I am pleased that I did. I think the double darts give this basic dress a lovely twist without seeming like it is trying too hard. It also looks cool in a striped fabric.

Lovely. This is a very nice dress… I’m not a fan of gingham but now I’m tempted to go out and buy some and make this vintage dress
