Description

In my grandma’s stash from soviet times I found this fabric, which I assume is meant more for dresses, not jackets. But of course, who takes into consideration the fabric if someone desperately wants to make a jacket. So I took this fabric and made it. It was very tricky, as predicted, to give the right form to it and to deal with all the ironing during sewing, but at the end it turned out quite well and it is qute easy to wear it.

You did a beautiful job! This jacket resembles an Armani jacket that is in my closet. His perfectly tailored pieces are made in divine fabric with unusual closures. You have hit all three points. Talk about talent!

We forget how difficult to use some of the vintage fabrics especially with pressing. Love the buttons

Thanks! I made the pattern based on the picture in one of Burda magazines, but do not remember which year and month exactly, could be from 2009. The variation there had buttons in two lines instead of one.

A lovely wearable style. The peplum effect is very fashionable this year. You have made it beautifully.

One of the best things about making your own clothes is that fabric rarely dates. I have fabrics that I have had for many years knowing that their time will come. It pays to take care of your fabrics.

You will wear this glorious green and it will remind you of the history behind.
