Top no. 138 Burda 08/2011, Jacket no. 117A Burda 08/2011 and Trousers no. 117 Burda 04/2011.
Ok, this is the first project for me that I am putting on here. I am camera shy, my camera and my mirror have completely different ideas of how I look… But, Husband was taking his car to a rally this weekend, with me and daughter no. 2 as company (!) and I decided, as you do, to have something new to wear…
I made the top from some Liberty Lawn I had, the buttons are plastic, but look like crystals, a girl needs something sparkly!! It was dead easy and quick to make, I did shorten it though. Burda make the bigger sizes in much too long a length, so I took 10cm off the bottom of this one. I don’t like wearing tents! I will definitely make it again, I have dug out some black and white silk chiffon that will look devine in this pattern!
Trousers are in linen with an invisible zip. It has hip yoke pockets, and I used some of the top fabric for the pocket bag. I took these in quite a bit from the knee down. The picture in the magazine shows them “short”, but at the finished width and height they just looked wrong. If they were to stay that length, they definitely needed to be narrower, so I tapered them by 2cm in total toward the hem.
The jacket is a pastachio green bamboo jersey. I had 3m of this in my cupboard, just waiting for a use! The overlocker was put into action to run this up, quick, easy and well worth it! I used a twin needle on all the hems and the front edge. I think if I make it again I will use the smaller size, and shorten it again.. It can definitely do with being about 10cm shorter. The sleeves are a little baggy, but then again, I was glad I could get the puffy sleeves of the top into it. So catch 22… A good pattern to run up quickly if you need something in a hurry though.Bamboo jersey, linen and cotton tana lawn

I like the whole outfit but I especially like the top. I love the top stitching detail and the “crystal” buttons. The Liberty Lawn looks classy.

Great outfit, and good to see the jacket and top because they’re on my list to make too.

Thanks! If you are not tall though, I suggest sortening both… I definitely felt a little swamped in them before chopping them shorter.
