Description

burda pattern for ‘pearl dress’ from april 2013 (mod 109)
changed with the help of japanese ‘pattern magic’
into this knot dress
..
i do not own japanese sewing book
but i’ve seen a diagram for this dress on several blogs
and decided to give it a try
burda pattern used as my sloper
..
cause my sloper is different than one in a book
it resulted in different silhouette
..
what i like about these japanese designs
is that they teach you how to achieve a certain look
but it’s up to you how you are going to use it
so you have more freedom than when you’re working with regular patterns
and you actually learn a lot while you draft the pattern
..
see more pics on my blog mokosha

Material Notes

have no idea what this fabric is, some sort of blends.. and highly flammable one too.. but it has some nice sheen to it

Difficulty

Intermediate

You are so clever. This is such an original dress and created a lovely shape. Can’t believe you just did it by eye Genius! :-)

:) thanks, janene.. well, i’ve seen a drawing of what i’m supposed to do, and where should i slash the original sloper, so i’m not that clever after all :) these techniques from pattern magic book are so cool

Cool dress, Mokosha! I really like the front detail and the fabric gives it a very clean , sharp look!

thank you.. fabric proved to be the right choice (much to my surprise.. i kind of thought that this dress ain’t going to be a success, so i used stash fabric, that i won’t be missing if i screw up)
