My fourth quilt! Completed in December 2009, I made this for my grandma (who is 92!) for Christmas out of her old tablecloths. I based it off of the Scruffily Quilt. Let me tell you, this one was a test of my patience. I was working with several different weaves of polyester, one in particular being very loosely woven and easily frayed. Not until I thought I was completely done did I hold it up and notice those squares were coming out of the stitches and popping off the quilt. I had to go back and stitch around every single square made of that fabric. So frustrating! But despite that, I really love the way this quilt looks. I made it slightly larger than lap size, so Grandma can use it for napping or sitting on the couch watching t.v.
I used two of Grandma’s own vintage polyester tablecloths and one of mine that I had bought from a thrift store. I used a soft flannel bedsheet for the backing, the binding, and the border sashing on the front.

Thanks everybody! Yes, Grandma loves it. She takes a nap sometimes in the afternoons and she says she always uses it for that. It’s the perfect size and weight for her.
