Today’s project was created by Chicago based seamstress and pattern-maker Grainline. Here’s what she has to say about her lovely Liberty printed frock:
“The original inspiration for this dress, oddly enough, was a large fabric sleeve I fabricated for a Chicago based artist. He was using this same Liberty print Edenham Tana Lawn which I fell in love with and decided it would be perfect for an autumn to winter dress. Around the same time the fall collections were coming out and there were a lot of loose fitting floral dresses appearing in shops. Steven Alan had one of my favorite collections and I got the two level skirt idea from there. A lucky ebay score of a 2 meter ruminant made this dress a reality (don’t forget to check ebay if you’re looking for Liberty fabric!). It’s a great dress for layering with tights, winter sweaters and boots.”
