Grainline Scout woven tee

I read lots of good reviews about this pattern and although I am an experienced sewer, I think this pattern is brilliant for it’s simplicity and ease of making and fitting. But the best thing about it, it is a great stash/remnant buster. It requires little fabric and if you have a look at this link, you will see so many variations and lovely versions of this pattern.
The fabric I have used has been in my stash for probably 20 years. I remember I bought it from Laura Ashley when they use to sell 3metre pieces all beautifully bundled up and placed in a lovely basket.

Material Notes

Laura Ashley cotton (very similar in quality to Liberty lawn)
Purchased navy bias binding

Very nice! Black and white is lovely and you can wear it for all occasions – great sewing as well :-)

It’s beautiful! Can I ask you something? How you make the bias tape look ok? Mine (in every clothe I’ve made) turns on the outside somehow!

Thanks for your sweet comment. To make the bias sit on the edge without rolling over the edge, I topstitch both edges if it is showing on the front as in this top. But if the bias is on the inside, I stitch the bias close to the edge of where I have sewn, taking in the seam allowance underneath. I will try and find a YouTube video today and send you the link. It isn’t difficult but a good skill to have for sewing all bias edges or facings.

Thanks. This would have to be the easiest of all projects.
