This is a dress I designed for a girl’s formal or “prom” (hence lack of quality photos atm). Whole top half is hand sewn, which took forever!
Made the pattern myself but unfortunately I dont know how to up load or draw it on the computer at the moment!
The back is actually really cool but I dont have photos of it at the moment. It scoops down to her waist and the side strap splits into two and it all buttons together.
Silk Dupion, chiffon, satin

I love this dress. Was the silk dupion difficult to sew? I’m about to make a dress out of it myself and it’s my first time sewing with it so hopefully it will work well.

Well, it kind of was a bit hard. wasn’t too bad, the only thing was I tried to sew all the gathering with a machine and it pressed it flat when I wanted it to stay without any creases on the gathering because I wanted the volume. SO i unpicked it and ironed it but the needle marks and creases stayed. I washed it in cold water and dried it again, if you looked close the pin marks were still there but I got the creases out.
So I guess maybe just be careful of not making mistakes like me? haha, be careful of the edges though, it frays really easy.
Good luck with your first dress!! You’ll have fun! put photos up when your done :)
