Vogue 2561: Misses’ Top, Belt & Dress. Close-fitting top has collar, slits, contrast binding and belt. Dress, below mid-calf, has close-fitting, lined bodice with pleated upper section extending to side back, back straps, flared skirt, snap closing on upper section and side zipper.
I originally added some horsehair to the hem hoping that it would help with the silhouette, but those draped sections that hang straight down looked ridiculous. So out came the horsehair and on went the crinoline.
If you have this one in your stash, it is a fun pattern, but beware the skirt, and try to have someone help you get it on, if at all possible – those snaps along with the side zip are really hard to do up by yourself!
I really love my novelty cotton, and the finished dress came out fine, but I had my issues with it (perhaps one of the reasons it does not get very much wear).
More pictures may be found over on my blog, Lilacs & Lace.
