I made this wrap dress about a month ago and just haven’t had a chance to photograph it, mainly because I love it so much that I’ve worn it at least once a week to work. Unfortunately summer is well on the way out here in Western Australia so it’s back in to the wardrobe so that I can rediscover it next summer. This is a great pattern, super comfy and I love the pleat details at the waist and shoulders. I haven’t sewn a Butterick pattern before and according to the size chart I am a 16, I’ve been warned that Butterick runs large so I cut a 14 (the largest size from my pattern) and I still think it’s at least one size too big. Not sure if it’s just the Simplicity sizing or a combination of the wrap style and stretchy fabric but one of the front side pleats is well under the wrap front and I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to sit. Anyway, I loved the fabric and will probably make another (in a smaller size) with the 3/4 sleeve, maybe in a more wintery type print to wear with tights.

Lovely dress! And you can still wear it in winter with a jacket, tights and boots…

So true, I am thinking of whipping another one up in black (DVF style) or charcoal to wear with coloured tights, it’s such a quick pattern to sew :)

Very pretty dress. I like the fabric choice as well. Summer is coming in over here, so I’ve got lots of dress ideas bouncing around. I’ll be sure to give this pattern a closer look.

OMG I almost left this fabric at the shop! I looked at it on the bolt and liked it but put it back, then as I was walking to my car I saw in the window they had wrapped it around a mannequin, I thought it was a totally different print and rushed back in to get it :)

Nice dress! Too bad for the summer’s end. But hey – you’ll get to wear your lovely Hikaru jacket! On the other side of world, summer is coming to Eastern Europe, and that’s great. But while it’s rather warm the rainy weather really annoys me.

It is # 5454, I am cutting my next one already in a nice soft cotton wool knit blend, perfect for coloured tights, boots and winter weather :)
