I’ve been wanting to make a coat from this pattern for awhile, but was always worried about the fit as the matching dress pattern was always too small. Normally I suppose you would make a muslin mock-up but I thought I might make a dressing gown/bed coat from a massive stack of Jersey that I have instead. (Coat is on bottom left of pattern image)
On the dressing gown I probably should have changed the collar to a sloping collar, but at least I now know how it will look if I was to make it from silk or wool. I also added lace trim around the edges for a bit more fanciness.
I also had to draft up my own facings as the pattern doesn’t come with facings. (Must be a vintage pattern thing) I was quite proud that I worked out how to make my own facing. It’s not really that hard. You just have to get some tracing paper or cooking paper, and trace over the original pattern.
