Los Angeles, Cal...
So named because of the gold sequins that look like little pieces of oatmeal, and the oatmeal-colored knit…
I wanted to make a dress to go with this gold belt that I picked up at the thrift store. I chose a more neutral-colored knit to really showcase the belt, and tied it together with a piece of crochet lace applique that has gold sequins. The pattern was based off of McCall’s 6112, but since it’s such a simple pattern I didn’t bother buying it; I just sketched one based on my measurements and the pattern lineart. Putting on the applique was easier than I thought; I just sewed around the edges and then cut away the fabric underneath.
My favorite part of this dress (beside the lace) are the slits in the kimono sleeves; it makes for a nice drapey, breezy, comfy top.
