Grand Rapids, Mi...
This is one of the looks I used in my recent student collection, “A Modern Medieval Fairytale.” My inspiration for the collection was posed by the question, “What would medieval fairies wear today?” The theme for the show this year was “Time” and designers were asked to re-interpret time periods.
This was actually inspired by Medieval menswear. I did silk dupioni pants and a soft cotton/poly blend tent top with sleeves inspired by some found on images of menswear. There is an inner lace sleeve that is revealed by the slash of the upper sleeve. There is a lace “Yoke” attached at the front and back.
