Couple of weeks ago, I celebrate my 40´s and I made a pink and black bags and shoes party. I wanted my dress to be special in the same theme color. I had this pattern in mind since it was released, a remake from a cocktail party dress from Burda 1958, released on Burda magazine Nov 2007. Dragon sleeves were so difficult considering I dont speak the instruction language, so I decided to made them my way following the numbers. The fabric was really easy to work with and the colors were perfect. I found the perfect pair of shoes in the same color. I made an addition, with the drapping on the waist, added a vintage sort of pin.
I also made a peticoat in black tulip, really easy and make the dress this puffy effect. Love the outcome!

Your changes to the pattern are great. I love what you did with the skirt especially – that shape is gorgeous. (Also, I hope I look this good when I’m 40! ;)

OUTSTANDING!!! I love the 50`s when the designs gave emphasis to the waist. I bet you were the best dressed at your party (as it should be given that it was your b-day). The jacquard effect on the fabric is magnificent. I love black on lite pink. You were so right by adding the black draped piece to the waist. It made your waist appear even smaller and added to the dress just what it needed. AMAZING!!!
