A young lady at my church is expecting and needed a pair of maternity God’s Army pants. Why use this name? Well, she is one of our youth leaders and every third Sunday the youth leaders wear military clothes to “go get back our children” and bring them back to the “Army for God”. I thought, being pregnant twice while in the military myself, there was NO way she was in anyway comfortable in regular ACU’s (most of you may know them by their old name, BDU’s). So, I made her a pair of maternities. Just a simple and easy pattern. I will tell you which one once I get back to the machine.
B4201 the pattern: I just made the legs longer by 12 inches.
lyra cotton for the panel (very good stretch return), cotton poly blend

What a nice thing to do for your young friend :-)
I made myself some satin maternity pj pants that looked much the same during my last pregnancy but I used a regular pattern, then cut the section out of the front (or rather left it out when I was cutting) and sewed in a panel of stretch ribbing and gave them an elastic waist- very comfortable and they’re still good this time around too.
