A friend of mine is going to a masquerade ball for which she needs a beautiful dress. As a long time fan of the musical ‘Wicked’ she wanted something that looked like the “Bubble Dress” that Glinda wears (in the opening and end sequences) but adapted to something she could move/dance/sit/eat in.
I started off buying a pattern from Nehelina Patterns (http://www.neheleniapatterns.com/) and altering the corseted bodice to a suitable shape. The skirt I made knee length and a simple circle skirt adding in hand stitched sequined petals for the right look.
So far I’ve used Taffeta, Voile and lining material as well as steel boning (again from Nehelina Patterns, corsetry supplies) and sequins from simplysequins.co.uk
