Girl's Sequined Dress

Added Dec 11, 2013

by Ellen Hatteland

Nedre Vats, Norway

This is an easy dress to make, but sewing with sequined fabric could be a challenge.. I choosed to use satin for the sleeves and I have used two press buttons on the left shoulder, and satin for lining. She is very happy with the Christmas dress :)

Material Notes

Sequined fabric and satin

Garment Type

Gorgeous Ellen and close to heart, as I have a step daughter who is expecting. I’m making her 3 maxi dresses for her preggy dresses (for west Australian summer). So I will soon be a step grand mum too! Maybe I’ll get to make children’s clothing soon, how exciting.

I’d love to lend such a dress from your husband’s granddaughter if only could ever hope to wear it:-))) Simple pattern and what else is needed for such bright fabric. Any girl would be happy to look like a star in this outfit!

This is gorgeous ellen and what a lovely young girl. Is this your daughter?? I love sequins and i still want 2 metres in red. Working with sequins is streeful but the end result is so worth it. Fabulous. I love the contrasting satin in the sleeves, it’s a nice touch. Did you take the sequins of before sewing the seams ellen? i broke that many needles last time i used this fabric that another sewer gave me a tip and that was to remove the sequins at all the seams then sew x

You are always so kind with your comments, thanks a lot Mary. She’s my husband sweet granddaughter, and she is so happy with everything I’m sewing to her :) I know it would be better to remove some sequins, but they are so small so I didn’t have to do it. :o)

I normally don’t remove the sequins either ellen but i might with the next dress as the sequins are a bit larger. Sequins and anything sparkly remind me so much of xmas. I really wanted the red last year but could’nt get any. I settled on navy and emerald green. I bought gold the previous year. This year i bought black. Its greedy but i would still love the rec!! I don’t think i’m going to that many parties for all these dresses though lol x

I’m really impressed Mary!! Wow – you can party every night through the holidays :-) Red is my favorite color for Xmas, and also sequins and sparkly garments are nice :) I’m looking forward to see your black dress – I’m sure you will be pretty in your new dress :-))
