Description

My attempt at copying a $4000+ (1990s price) Romeo Gigli coat from his Winter 89-90 collection. (I was a poor student. I couldn’t possibly afford it.)

The sewing didn’t take very long. But the applique embroidery took forever. All in all it tooked me about a decade to finish this coat. And unfortunately it’s humongous on me. (I have problems getting the fit, scale, and silhouette right on many sewing projects.)

Definitely a labor of love. When I have time I’ll try to include a bit more construction details in case there are bits you can adapt for your project.

Thanks for the compliments! Now we know why couture is so bloody expensive…It can be achieved, it just takes a lot of patience. Bucket loads of patience! :-)
