I wanted something really warm to wear for winter, with my usual hint of crazy added…and McCalls 5705 answered the call!
It’s quite cool – the giant collar-thing acts almost like a scarf, keeping your neck warm during everyday walkabouts – and then if it starts raining, (or you just want to look like a Dementor sorry for the nerdy HP joke) then you just have to pull over the hood! Voila!
I used this wonderful thick wool knit from Rathdowne Remants in Melbourne – about $15m. It was so amazing, that when I went back a few days later for some more, they’d sold out their ENTIRE stock… It hasn’t pilled through lots of wear either, which is a plus.
Also used some 15mm elastic, and what I believe is some kind of foldover bias-elastic-y stuff for the binding around the collar.
