My daughter will wear this dress to the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg which will take place in July. I used Simplicity pattern 3725 (A) as a fitting pattern. To make the dress more historically accurate I lowered the sleeves off the shoulders. I also cuffed the sleeves, and I cut them out wider in the back to imitate the classic L shaped sleeve of the mid-19th century. I took the yoke out of the front waist, raised the waistline, and I replaced the zipper with glass buttons and bound button holes. The dress is underlined with muslin, the bodice is lined with broadcloth, and the hem is faced with cotton twill tape.
cotton print shell, cotton muslin underlining, poly/cotton broadcloth, glass buttons, cotton crochet lace
