New Orleans, Lou...

I got married last spring, and made my dress, veil and husband’s bow tie. I made the pattern for my dress, and cut a heart out of the back. I made in seam pockets, made bias tape out of the lining material and added some lace around the bottom and sleeves. I also made the pattern for his bow tie because he wanted it to be extra fat. I love that I’ve been able to add my wedding dress to my regular wardrobe!

Congrats! Love the dress! Especially the pattern! Have any fabric stores you recommend in NOLA? I am always looking for new and different fabric and noveltys.

Gorgeous, a real celebration dress! Like Nookie I don’t fit into my unconventional wedding dress anymore but it was (kind of) white…creamy unbleached calico, drop waisted with a tiered short skirt of indigenous-inspired prints. Your dress will serve you well into the future :)

Thanks nookie! A blue wedding dress sounds lovely. I actually already had this fabric, but wasn’t able to commit to a project because I liked it so much. Then when we decided to get married, I realized it would be the most perfect fun print!

lovely to see a wedding dress that is not white. I’m not the most unconventional gal out there but it is very rare that I meet someone who chooses to wear something not related to white! I only wish I still fit into my lovely blue number, but my husband swears I look far better with a few more curves! Anyway…all that aside, very sweet dress

very pretty ! it’s great that you’ve been able to add it to your regular wardrobe, it seems a shame to only wear a dress once !
