Along with many others, I love the look of the Gerard coat by Republique du Chiffon. A perfect slouchy spring-fall coat. I had a hard time deciding what size to make – I wanted it to be oversized, but my measurements were all over the place when compared to the measurements on the pattern (some larger, some smaller). I tried to figure it out based on the sizes other people had said they’d sewn, but it’s hard to tell how big someone is! I ended up making a large with no modifications and am happy with the fit – I could have made the sleeves a little longer, but not by much. For reference, I am 5’10" and have a bust measurement of 36 and a hip of 39" (in case you’re thinking of sewing the pattern and don’t know which size to choose!). I used a 50% wool / 50%poly boucle fabric for the body and preshrunk it (tumble dry with hot damp towels) before using. I mostly didn’t follow the directions on the pattern, but instead followed tutorials from here and here which were both very helpful.
