Simple gathered skirt using Simplicity pattern 2226. I had made a prior attempt at this pattern which ended in me tossing the part finished skirt after multiple mistakes, a very difficult to work with fabric, and finally sewing the waistband on upside down… That was my first attempt ever at a skirt. This time around, i used a different fabric and had made another skirt in the meantime and this went much smoother. I’m not sure how I feel about the pattern. I like the pockets and front gathers. The gathers in the back are more voluminous that I would prefer. This maybe that the fabric has some body, but it was ok by the fabric list recommended for the pattern. And that fullness is after I accidentally cut the pattern a size too small. If I make the skirt again (third time may be the charm), I’ll use a thinner cotton fabric and possibly skip the backside gathering or consider pleats instead. I would also use an invisible zipper.

I like the skirt. With your figure, the gathered back is no problem. You look great!

I like it! I just made this pattern, too, and cut the back width by four inches to make it less poofy when gathered. I think yours looks fine in the back, though.
