I saw this fabric and absolutely had to have it. It reminds me of a pop version of an impressionist painting or something of the like! I was a little deterred when I found it cost 15 soles a meter (only about 5 dollars) but I have become accustomed to paying between 8 and 12. I walked about 10 feet when I turned around to see my husband already talking the shop owner down to 13 soles.
I decided on another stylish dress book pattern (I only brought 2 pattern books with me to Peru, Stylish dress book 2 and Drape Drape.) This is pattern R with some modifications. A curved baby hem, self-created facings for the neck-hole (because I didn’t have enough fabric for bias strips), an elasticized waistband, no sleeves or ties, and french seams. Plus this is only 1 meter of fabric!!
I am so in love with the front sleeve gathers and back center gathers underneath the yoke. I’ll probably wearing this tunic with shorts, tights, and skinny jeans all summer!!
