Gathered Clutch a la Noodlehead

Chicago, Illinoi...

I used the tutorial below to make a little zippered clutch/pencil case just for fun. The instructions on the tutorial are a little confusing, but if you are not a complete beginner you can probably work through it just fine. I would add that the interior fabric needs to be smaller than the exterior by at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the bottom and the sides so it will fit nicely in the pouch created by the exterior fabric. I had never used these exposed zippers before, only invisible zippers, but let me tell you- they are a cinch! There is a divider pocket and also two card holders in my project, it would be much easier if the divider pocket was left out but it wouldn’t be as sturdy. It’s a satisfying afternoon project, I highly recommend it!

Material Notes

The exterior fabric came in little 1/4 yard bundles with assorted fabrics at JoAnn’s. The interior fabric was leftover from my market bag project. The interior fabric is rather thick, so it made for a sturdy pouch but luckily was not too thick to sew through.
