Every year, in Tampa, FL, we celebrate the invasion of Jose Gaspar at the Gasparilla parade along Bayshore Blvd. This year, I decided to make my own costume. The bodice is brocade from Joann’s made with Butterick’s Making History pattern 4254. The “dress” or “petticoat” or whatever you want to call it was made of unbleached muslin and self drafted with a little help from the book Built by Wendy: Dresses. Didn’t take me more than 10 hours total I don’t think.
