There are so many lovely versions of this pattern on Burdastyle (gathered dress with cap sleeves) that I really had to make one of my own. This floral sheet really emphasises the femininity of the design, though it could go equally well with a more modern print. I performed a 1.5cm FBA on the size 40 to have a better fitting bodice. Other adjustments included adding length to the bodice and skirt, inseam pockets, a centre back zip, and bias binding as a neck and arm facing instead of lining (that is, I was too lazy to line it!).
Though their instructions are typically confusing and sizing ginormous, kudos to Burda for having a printed pattern for the bodice only and leaving the sewist to draft their own skirt. Any pattern that doesn’t involved printing 60 pages is a win in my book!
I feel very flouncy and pretty in this dress – perhaps some tea parties and garden picnics are in store!
