I loved the retro Aenne Burda dress collection from the January 2013 issue of burda style magazine! I especially loved the Princess Sheath Dress. I mean, look at that neckline! It is gorgeous! Retro-style, or even dresses in general are not typically something I gravitate towards. But I found something futuristic about this dress pattern, I think it is the open shoulders and the bust sections. Also, I needed an awesome pattern to cut out from my amazing Alexander Henry Galactic Ladies in Space printed fabric from Hart’s Fabric.
Jamie and I were at Hart’s Fabric in Santa Cruz in December for a book signing. It was great to be in their shop to see all their lovely fabrics in person, they have such a great selection of cotton prints. While I was there I wondered the aisles and spotted this totally rad space fabric. Right now I have an obsession with ‘space’ and ‘galaxy’ prints…refer to my Veronica Dress.
I thought this fabric really suited the dress style, and I think the silhouette is lovely. You can read more about my process of making this dress in my first edition of Meg’s Magazine Mash Up!

Nice I read your blog and when you show the fabric it very busy with all the space pictures. But as dress I don’t think that at all.
