Description

Bikini – Burdastyle 7/2009 #121

As much as I don’t actually wear skimpy bikini’s I thought this pattern which appeared in a back issue of burdastyle, has a professional style to it, like you might find in a shop. It didn’t take too long to sew either, but I’m not going to show close ups of the messy zigzag top-stitching lol. I had exactly enough of this remnant of vibrant vintage 70s jersey fabric to make it. There was really nothing else one could make with the small piece of material I had, so a teeny bikini was the perfect answer lol. The fabric is slightly sheer/thin so I lined both the top and bottom in a black ribbing remnant I got from the thrift store. Location: Milford Beach

Material Notes

slightly sheer 70s jersey print with crosswise stretch & a sheen – possibly stretch tricot, beige lace underwear elastic, plastic bikini clasp, black ribbing with 4-way stretch.

I tried these on down at the beach yesterday to see how they hold up to swimming, and I must say are best for sunbathing. They feel good to wear and stay tied together, but they are pretty loose for swimming, a bit skimpy for me, as per my cheeky cleavage shot here hahahaha for jokes. I used the wrong lining, black ribbing, which meant it was left soaking and took ages to dry. I’m glad these are my last bikini’s to demonstrate (well they should be, unless another great bikini pattern comes along on burdastyle one day lol!), because if you can tell by the expression on my face, I still dislike wearing bikini’s lol!

Thanx izbott x ….yeh these small leftover remnants can come in handy, esp if they’re funky unique prints from the 70s haha

Thankyou Ellen x. I would probably wear a cover up over it the whole time lol so I don’t feel like i’m wearing undies, a sheer one tho :D
