I’ve never shirred before and had no idea how easy it was…thanks to MadeleineFashion http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/fabric-manipulation-dress – for the tip and inspiration, and to ElegantMusings for her how-to http://www.burdastyle.com/techniques/shirring-smocking-jersey
decided to take a basic t-shirt and see what I could do with it. Took a pattern from my fav short sleeved T, some left over cotton jersey and voila …
I added 2 inches at the center front and sleeve header to allow for shirring. I actually meant to shirr the sleeves at the header not at the hem but got all downside-up and didnt realized until I was done shirring that I’s shirred the wrong edge…so I decide to run with it and gathered the sleeve caps instead.
side seams on this are currently based together…and I can see from the pics I need to let them out a little…but all round fun project will definitely shirr again.
nice thick cotton jersey

Looks great, love the way the sleeves turned out, I haven’t done shirring for years, must get back to it.
