I used different prints, in different sections to add some fun and show off the pattern. I added some decorative top stitching along the edges of the bib, the tie, and the skirt hem, I also widened the tie, and added a tier to the skirt.
For the skirt I sewed the side seams separately and added the pockets to only the top layer. I basted the two skirt layers together at the waist before adding the pleats and sewing to the bodice.
I wore this dress to my cousin’s afternoon wedding and got lots of compliments on both the design and the pattern choices. It was a lot of fun to make and to dance in!
I used 100% cotton quilting fabric that I purchased at a quilt shop.
