Dallas, Texas, U...
I had a remnant of beautiful royal blue and gold brocade. I only had half a yard, but thanks to the generous width I managed to make a skirt for my teenage daughter. The fabric is beautiful, but I can’t decide if the skirt is more fun on the outside or the inside. I lined it with gold lining, All seams are finished with bias tape I made from the same fabric I used for lining. The inside of the waistband is reinforced with matching gold grossgrain ribbon to keep it from sliding.
I used McCall’s 6706, but had to make some alterations. It has three pleats on the front and back and one on each side. Limited to such small piece of fabric, I eliminated the center pleat and moved the remaining ones closer together, this way I fit both front and back in one width. Invisible zip is hidden in one of the side pleats. I only have it 2/3 of the way open, but it really is invisible once closed. I did pretty good job on it, not to mention that the color was dead on.
