I had this idea of making the seams on the outside for a long time… I tried first with my Fully Ruffled Dress but that was not perfect as I had 3 hours to make it.
This top is the updated version (originally, my idea was a top anyway!)… I love it!
Plus the fabric I found was transparent, so I lined it with itself, and it adds even more ruffles! ^^

I just LOVE this, even if I AM a “woman of a certain age”! The ruched sides would hide the little “bulges” from where bras, panties, etc. end, and it’s girly without being too over the top, at least in my humble opinion! Since I have a thicker waist, I might consider trimming down the ruffled edges at an angle/slight curve in towards the waist, then gradually increasing back out to the beginning ruffle width towards the hemline. I think that would give more waist definition for me………

What you can also do that would be easier is to wear it with a belt (or even make it with the same fabric). I wore a belt with the dress, and it really makes a difference!

This is so adorably chic, and it looks so soft! It’s perfect as a top with just the right amount of ruffles. Great job!

Perfect. Yes, the top is better than the dress. It looks great on you too.

Just fabulous! I love it! It’s such a “happy” and fun top! And it looks great on you. I would love to make something like this but I am so afraid of sewing with knits hehehe….

Sewing with knits can be a bit tricky, but it’s so easy to draft your pattern and make it fit, it’s great! On this top particularly, as the seams are only vertical, you can use a normal stitch and gently pull on your fabric while sewing, but that’s all :)
