This green sailor dress was my first dressmaking attempt since high school. I used New Look 6587 for the basic pattern, but changed the buttons to a zipper. I drafted my own sailor collar using this online tutorial . I made the decorative stripes myself so that the fabrics would all match, but in the future I would just fake it and use bias tape or ribbon.

I LOVE this… it’s awesome… I want to try and make my own! Really jealous of the roller derby too… there is no good place to skate in the UK.

Thanks :) I’m pretty sure derby is all over the UK now. London just had an excellent showing at the WFTDA Eastern regionals, but it seems to be in all the major cities now. If it’s not in your town you should see about starting up a league!
