Description

The slip dress has always intrigued me since I never had the courage to wear underwear as outerwear but it’s so Courtney Love from her Hole days so I made my own. When I saw this pattern in the Burdastyle 7/13 issue I thought I’d give it a shot. I actually found this crepe satin for dirt cheap at Wal Mart of all places. I like the fabric because of the color and also because it was easy to work with. It didn’t slip around so much and it didn’t run if I had to rip seams. I added a little modesty insert in the middle because I don’t like a lot of cleavage hanging out even if I end up just wearing it at home. I cut a size 34 for this Burdastyle #116 pattern. It fit just right and I didn’t have to hem it very much.

I think I’m done with the night clubs for where I could possible wear this out but it feels luxurious enough to sleep in! Now I must find a matching robe pattern!

THanks Mary! This pattern is definitely good enough for light beach dresses. It’s fun to make.
