A winter coat made with love for my gorgeous sister Angeline.
The coating fabric is a stunning wool/cashmere blend from Tessuti Fabrics
The lining is a silk cotton blend that I purchased from the do-it-yourself fabric website Spoonflower The print design of this fabric is by heidikenny
This coat, made using Butterick 5145 is inspired by the hot pink coat worn by Zooey Deschanel on the TV series ‘New Girl’.
The coat is fully lined, with the addition of bound button holes; my new favourite technique!
This coat is so super soft and the colour alone is bright enough to warm you up in the bleakest of winters. Pity it’s Summer in Australia!

I just love your (sister’s) pink coat! I’ve just make one and it’s the best colour for winter, so cheerful. And it looks so good on your sister, she’s very pretty in pink!

Thank you! Yes it’s perfect for winter, and the cashmere makes it extra warm. Just because it’s cold and dreary outside, doesn’t mean your clothes have to match :)

Oh that’s so lovely anabella! I love the name Angeline. My grandmother’s name is Angiolina so my sister was named after her.
Thanks for your comment :)

That’s awesome, how long does it take to make and how much did you pay for the material? I am so making this coat for this winter. Thank you for sharing.

Hello!
All the hours added up, this coat probably took just shy of a week, but I made it pretty slowly. I added extra hand stitching and bound button holes which are more time consuming. Plus I’m pregnant so everything I do is slower these days :)
I treated myself and got some really good quality couture fabrics so the coat probably ended up costing around $200 for fabric and notions. You could easily make it for less though.
