I fell in love with this pattern at the moment I saw it in the october 2011 Burda magazine. (10/2011 Little black dress with lace inset #125)
I was looking for a 40’s style dress pattern with an insert. Instead of the lace insert I used the dress fabric and added a few buttons. I also omitted the standing collar and modified the skirt to an A-line skirt (more details on how to do this are on my blog)
The fit of the dress was almost perfect, I could sew it without adjustments. Although it is a petite pattern and I am 167 cm tall the fit was great. Probably because I am short waisted.
The fabric I choose has a pretty, matte satiny shine but it ravels like crazy. I used bias binding on the inside to finish the seams.
Note: this is the 3rd time I upload this dress, it just keeps disappearing from the main page!
