Fortune cookie purse

Added Aug 29, 2013

Athens, Greece

“Make this bag and good fortune will bestow upon you”
This is based on a tutorial I found on the fantastic weekend designer here : . I used embroidered denim for this but I have made other fortune cookies as well, using different materials and making different closures, handles etc. The conctruction is very easy and the result is very cute! I want to make one more fortune cookie bag , a big one this time, for everyday use in faux leather. I hope you like it and use this tutorial to make a gorgeous fortune cookie for yourself, your daughter, your friend!!!

Material Notes

Embroidered denim, matching lining, zipper, cord

Garment Type

Cute; great fabric! Thanks for the link. I think they would make an easy gift when giving someone money/gift card for a birthday or Christmas. :-)

Liliv, those purses you make are fantastic! But I have to say that this one is the coolest. My favorite, no doubt. Very elegant and original. And the fabric is gorgeous. Excellent job! Defenitely I will use the tutorial and try to make one.

You are just teasing me with your bags, honestly – I like your new bag so much:-) I like the fabric you used and really thought that its decoration is handmade. Really exclusive thing!

This fabric is really gorgeous and it is even more nice in person, very luxurious! This tutorial is a very nice idea for using small pieces of fabric, if you don’t want to just remove the dust with them:P. The whole construction takes only one hour and the little pouch looks small and cute, but has a relatively big capacity! And if you use a more strudy fabric and wide straps you can make a large everyday shoulder bag, I have seen many of these on line.

Oh Liliv, it’s adorable! It looks completely different from your others – I think it’s the thin straps that make it hang symetrically. I have no need of such a bag, but of good luck yes! That’s a good enough excuse to try making one!

It is different than the mustard one I posted the other day, it has a similarity but it is not exactly the same. You are right: it hangs symetrically because of the thin strap (it’s a cord), but also because of the different position of the strap and the loop. I have made another one with wide straps which also hangs symetrically, but I didn’t make a loop closure, it closes with a button. I’ll post it soon! Thanks a lot for looking at my lucky purse:)))

Thanks Mary, it’s one of my favorites too…it’s very easy to carry many things with this little pourse. And if you make it larger it’s a slouchy bag with big capacity!
