This is my Mister and I’ve never sewn a single stitch of apparel for him and thought it was high time. He was in desperate need of new jeans. It’s always hard to fit Mr. S and I wasn’t emotionally prepared for the hunting of jeans that don’t seem to exist this time around. So here is Kwik Sew 3504. I’ll be making these again and again, I think. I don’t know that Mr. S is completely convinced that he likes them. But hey, these are my first pair. A few more and perhaps he’ll be swayed. Let’s get down to specifics shall we?
I used a stretch denim for these and stitched a gold denim topstitching thread. I bought rivets from ebay and found jean buttons at my local fabric store. After all was said and done I tried distressing the jeans. I’m not sure that this really worked out that well and I don’t know if that’s because of the stretch in the denim or not. I tried bleaching these and sandpapering them and giving them a few bleach pen streaks. It was fun giving this a try even if the distress didn’t come out quite right. The sewing pattern was quite good. There are a few tweaks that still need to be made for next time, but overall I’m happy with the fit and the construction. The instructions are great and quite straight forward. Totally recommend!

Wow, these are fantastic! I, too, am making my foray into the world of menswear. I can’t believe this is your first go at mens jeans. I’ll have to try the pattern. Great job!

YOU ARE FEARLESS!!! They look brilliant, do you have an industrial as I am wondering whether denim would be a challenge on a standard sewing machine? Once again… BRILL!!!

Oh thank you! Actually I just have a standard Bernina sewing machine. It handled these fairly well although the stretch in the denim was a little hard to maneuver. All in all, not too bad on my machine.

You did a very good job. Mr. S will come around and will be very pleased about his jeans he might even give you some ideas about what he might want on his jeans in the future.

Mr. S may not say it because he is a man but I am sure he is in love these. I think you are so ambitious. Great pair of jeans

fantastic! these are the best jeans i have seen for a long time! i love them and i think, that this pattern works realy great for them (by the way, i really think, that the elastic part in your denim has given you the hard time for making them “used looking”. if it is 100 % cotton, this procedure is far easier!)

Great job. They look very professional. I didn’t know the term was “distressing”. I think you are quite a pioneer – in one go making jeans and for a man, and the distressing stuff… Great job and he should be honored!
