This was my forest nymph costume for the Elf Fantasy Fair 2008. The skirt has a cut-off synthetic wedding dress with lots of petticoat as a base on which I’ve sewn countless leaves which were individually cut out of fabric. (the whole thing took me about 6 months as I also made all the accesories and the hair)
Leaves – interfacing (to prevent fraying), lots of forest coloured materials (polycotton, lining, satin, silk, suede, velvet, lots of left-over fabric i dont know the name of)
Sleeves & Cape – Fleece and organza
Corset – silk (i didnt make this though, dont have the pattern!)
Novice
I have to give credit to both Nada and Marianne for helping me with the sleeves!

Wow, that’s a lot of work! But the result looks great. I can’t remember seeing you at the Fair ;) but then, I was there on Sunday (you may have been there on Saturday) and there where loads of spectacularly dressed people. I really like your idea though, most people go for historical (like I did, I posted my victorian dress here on Burdastyle last week) or clearly defined fantasy costumes. I like that you seem to have made your own story.
