Description

I sewed my favourite piece for the winter season, a sweater embellished with embroidered forest animals.
Inspiration was an expensive Gucci pullover with birds embroidery from the latest winter collection, and in 2014 I already admired those embellished garments (capes, dresses) from Dolce & Gabbana. I loved the idea with making different forest animals on a pullover, and started the DIY project (it took me about 2 weeks).
First I sewed the raglan sweater with cloque fabric, based on Burda pattern 6846 (it does not seem available here, purchased it via download at the German Burda website). I made it without turtleneck collar. I enhanced the shoulder fit with raglan pads. Later I embroidered each animal on Smyrna canvas (Stramin) with different yarns, beads, sequins etc. and cut them out carefully, and applied them by hand on the pullover. The knobby oak is made of twisted jersey stripes.

Timeless, yes. I agree. I don’t like to sew things that are only for 1 season, you know? Thank you for your kind compliment! Philo
